ColourPop’s What the Shell Eyeshadow Palette is a good drugstore choice, and it’s packed with warm, rich shades that are reminiscent of golden hour glows. There are no duds in this palette, and it’s perfect for spring and summer looks. It even includes a few browns for fall looks. You’ll love this palette as it’s perfect for spring and summer, but don’t think that it’s too fall-appropriate.
The eight shades in the What the Shell eyeshadow palette are perfect for creating futuristic eye looks. The palette includes two duochrome shades that stain the skin, but apply smoothly and blend easily. Colourpop’s matte shadows are easy to blend, and they are soft to work with. Metallic shades are less pigmented than matte shadows, but they are not as smooth and soft to work with. The greens are gorgeous and have a natural, earthy tone.
The What the Shell palette is a limited edition palette that comes with nine pans. It contains matte, shimmer, and cream-to-powder shades. The palette also has a supershock eyeshadow. These shades feature metallic or foiled pigments, and have a distinctly shimmery finish. This palette also includes two pressed glitter shadows, Opal and Topaz. The matte shadows are easy to apply, and the shimmery ones are especially nice for highlighting the eyes.
The Going Coconuts Collection contains a number of sultry browns and bronzes. It isn’t overly shimmery and isn’t made for a dramatic eye look, but they’re still gorgeous and have good colour payoff. Colourpop has always delivered high-quality products, and the What the Shell Eyeshadow Palette is no different. It’s a versatile palette that will work with almost any makeup style.
The other four shades in the What the Shell Eyeshadow Palette are all metallic. I preferred the matte shades, and they applied evenly. But I didn’t love the shimmery shades, especially Cufflinks. This shade is a bit softer than the other two, and it took multiple coats to achieve the desired level of opaqueness. I found that this shade isn’t as easy to apply as the other three.
If you’re unfamiliar with cream eyeshadows, they are the best way to apply the shadows. They blend like a cream, but set to a powder consistency, so you won’t have any fallout problems with this eyeshadow. Moreover, cream eyeshadows have a lot of sparkle, so if you’re not into shimmery eyeshadows, this is the best option for you.
